Directions

This interactive applet is meant to accompany the Limaçon Explorer Activity. You can select either equation r = a + bsin(t) or r = a + bcos(t) in the upper left and then you can use the a and b sliders to manipulate the graphs. You can also click and drag on the rectangular graph to trace values to see how it is drawn. Note that once you've stopped dragging the mouse you will need to click several times on the rectangular graph and grid to reactivate the red dot. The ANIMATE button will show the graph as it is being drawn and the PARTIAL DRAW feature will show the graph being drawn as you drag along the rectangular graph.
